We all say these scenes on TV through the eyes of the camera. It was a very heartbreaking scene. In the turmoil of the pandemic, women and their children were starting at the invisible, asking countless questions to the policymakers of the country. That was a panic situation for the laborers. In this background, Government of india decided to create a portal which will store the data from the unorganized sector. Government will use this data for devising new programs and policies, to create new jobs in the future.

What is E shram Portal?

The Ministry of Labour and Employment of India has started a new portal e-SHRAM Portal for the welfare of the workers of the unorganized sector. After successful registration and verification government will provide Unique identification card to the workers. In this portal, there is an option to get registered. You can also find your nearest CSC (Common Service Center. Access point has been created under the national e-Governance project).On this portal, states can also log in and check their laborers` data. This portal will work as an aggregator and it will store the data of the workers of the unorganized sector. All the states including all the stakeholders can access this data. This will be the place where street vendors, Laborers, domestic worker`s data will be stored. Worker`s name, address, educational qualification, type of their skill, etc will be stored there. E shram car will be issued through this portal will be valid across the country. This portal will generate 12 digits Universal Account Number(UAN) for the workers.

Who is eligible for E Shram Registration 2021

The Government of India has set a target to collect the information of 30 million unorganized workers from the unorganized sector for this e shram card. Following are eligible for E shram registration

Domestic workers

other workers who are not getting any kind of government benefits are eligible for E Shram Registration.

Eligibility criteria of the E Shram registration 2021

Worker Age should be between 16-59 years

A worker should not be a member of ESIC or EPFO

A worker should not be an income tax payee

He/ She must be working in the unorganized sector. 

Application fee

No application fee will be charged for the registration but for updating the data after registration is chargeable. Rs 20 will be charged for updating

Documents required for E shram card

Following documents will be required for getting to the E shram Card.

Worker Aadhar Card

Bank account details (If Aadhar is linked to the bank account then account detail is not required)

Worker Electricity Bill/Ration Card

Worker`s Aadhar link active Mobile number

How to Apply online for E shram Card registration?

Following is the process for applying for E Shram Card

Visit the website then a page will get opened-

Fill aadhar linked mobile number

Enter Captcha

Portal will ask that Are you a member of The Provident Fund. You are supposed to click No.

Portal will ask that Are you a member of ESIC. You are supposed to click no.

Click on send OTP

An Application form will be open up. Fill in the required details.

Upload the required documents. List of documents. After this click on submit button. Also please don’t forget to take the printout of the application form.

Workers can also get registered through the common service center (CSC). A List of CSC has been uploaded on the portal. You can find your nearest CSC on CSC locator.

After filling in all the details E shram card government will verify your credentials. After the verification E shram card may be issued to you based on your entitlement and eligibility. For downloading the card first you need to check the registration status of your application. The Following process needs to be followed for checking the application status.
